The Defenders Series is a sales event designed to encourage new shooters to invest in their first firearm and introduce value-driven customers to the Springfield Armory brand. The renowned Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 handgun is the USGI 1911 workhorse modernized just enough to be the perfect traditional and practical 1911. Everything about his pistol is exactly like it should be to bring the winner of two world-wars up to date, but still look like it belongs in a USGI issued holster in 1927 or 1985. The sights on the Mil-Spec are the first change you will notice; they are actually usable. The modern, fixed, combat 3-Dot sights are perfect for actually shooting. The barrel is stainless steel and Match Grade, ensuring that you to hit what you can now aim at. The ejection port of the Mil-Spec is lowered and flared for reliability improvement. The rest of the gun is traditional 1911A1. This Mil-Spec .45 is built on a full-size frame and slide. The pistol is made from forged steel, as a pistol should be, and it has a time-honored Parkerized finish. The slide features slanted serrations on the rear only. The mainspring housing is the original arched style found on GI issue 1911-A1's. The pistol also has a standard spur hammer and standard grip safety. The single-sided, non-extended thumb safety and short military combat trigger are true to the original 1911-A1 design. This Defender model has wooden grips, comes with one seven round magazine, and ships in a cardboard box.
